Okay, it looks like my 1:45 patient is not going to turn up at all, considering that it is 2:38 at the moment. I've done all my charting and figure I might as well put some spare time to good use updating what the heck I've been up to for the past 9 months.
Feb-June: A second massage therapist joined my clinic but had to leave again when her husband was transferred to the interior of BC. I kind of figured she wasn't in it for the long haul and wasn't terribly surprised when she left. It was a good educational experience and I learned a lot about what to ask when I hired someone else.
Theo and I did a 4-day camping trip to the Olympic Peninsula in Washington State. It was very lovely and a great trip but I was totally disgusted by all the giant flying ants. They should be banned. Yick! We went to the hot springs in Olympic National Forest and soaked in their stinky, sulphuric wonder. After an hour or so I couldn't stand the stench anymore but my muscles felt fantastic and we were able to take advantage of the shower facilities in the complex. Hooray for less stench! Hopefully we can get more days off next year so we can head to the Oregon Coast.
July-Sept: A new massage therapist joined the practice and is still going strong today. We seem like a better fit and I'm really glad to have her here.
Sept-Present: An acupuncturist joined the practice as well so both of my clinic rooms are being utilized most days. There still are a couple gaps but I really can't complain. It is nice to have other people helping me out in paying for expenses.
Okay, gotta sign off now. Will finish soon.
Welcome to my online journal.
Here you can share all my deepest darkest thoughts - the ones I'm willing to share on the internet anyway.

Rummy resigns!
I know it's been a shockingly long time since I posted anything but my new business has been taking up most of my time and creativity. I did need to break out of my written hiatus to mention my joy at the news of Donald Rumsfeld's resignation. I am thrilled to not have to see his smug face and hear his condescension for anyone who disagrees with his ideas. I don't know much about the new guy but count me tickled pink to see what he can do.

New Clinic
I realized that I haven't written anything since I opened my clinic on December 1. It is going super-well. If anything I am too busy and am really feeling the physical ramifications of working so hard. The online booking program I have is working really well and I just spoke to another therapist who will be joining me in the space in a couple weeks. Huzzah!
6 Weeks of Rain
The last day of January 2006. How the time has flown by. In Vancouver we've had almost nothing but rain since the end of December and this year, I'm not depressed. I'm angry.
It is quite ridiculous to get angry at the weather but it feels a little more proactive than the usual blues. Instead of hiding in my house, I consider every excursion into the outside world as a "Fuck you right in the ear!" to the rain. Besides work, I have returned to ballet class, joined a salsa class, had many dinners out with friends as part of "Dine out Vancouver", gone to yoga twice a week and seen several new movies with gal friends on Friday nights.
Tonight we're "Dining out" at Aqua Riva and I am kind-of dreading my walk to the skytrain in the double whammy rain-and-wind combo we've got going today but I refuse to let it win.
Who am I kidding? I'm winning a few skirmishes but as far as the war goes, the weather is wiping the floor with me. Dinner is overrated. Maybe I'll just stay in bed...
